On Friday the 13th, Wilmington's own One Filthy Gallery and the Cameron Art Museum will team up to introduce Dr. Sketchy's to the Anchorage City with "Tableau Vivant."

"(Dr. Sketchy's) takes the uncomfortableness and the stiffness out of the legitimate life drawing," One Wicked Gallery owner Christina Cole wrote in a Facebook bulletin. "But you still get the same essence and basis in which that works. The visual setting and the flamboyance spawn a dramatic event. It's stage, background, visual stimulation, costuming, strength and color in one package."

The New York Times called Dr. Sketchy's, "a cantankerous between old-fashioned life-drawing sessions and new-wave cabaret." Rou magazine applauded it for fusing the female form, creative impulse and mixology.

Basically, each month, thousands of artists – beginners, amateurs and professionals akin to – gather in galleries, restaurants, bars, coffee houses and nightclubs across the globule to sketch burlesque dancers and costumed models. The models almost always dress according to themes, which can be sadistic, perverse or comical. They take the part such characters as zombies, space-age superheroes and survivors of the apocalypse.
