To exalt its centennial, over the course of 2012, Universal Studios will release 13 of their masterpieces on Blu-ray after a full restoration. Titles comprise , “The Birds” “Bride of Frankenstein,” “All Soundlessness On the Western Front,” “Buck Privates, “Jaws,” “The Cheat,” and “Schindler’s List.”  Correctly enough, this campaign starts off with that most American of films, director Robert Mulligan’s astonishing 1962 adaptation of novelist Harper Lee’s Pulitzer Guerdon-winning “To Kill a Mockingbird.”

Set in the Depression-era South in 1936, our anecdotist (Kim Stanley) is Scout Finch (a remarkable Mary Badham), who tells the fib as an adult looking back on three defining summers of her childhood as an impoverished tomboy who lives in a grudging town with her older brother Jem (Phillip Alford) and their father Atticus (Gregory Peck), a legal practitioner and widower in his middle age.

Lopez likes to forget about about underdogs ... people who don't cause it into the record books but are somehow caught up in the wheels of important events. One of his plays is about a junior man dealing with the after-effects of a gay-bashing. Another is about a New York kith and kin of Puerto Rican performers who are evicted from their knowledgeable in in 1959 to fly way for Lincoln Center. The Whipping Man tackles an even more arcane put through. It's about a brace-Secular War Jewish Confederate soldier and his former slaves, who appropriation his certainty. He returns where it hurts to find the set in ruins, but with his now freed slaves still there. Filled with twists and turns, Lopez's actions examines Caleb's standards pun, Simon's guileless trustworthiness to his former P, John's ideas as a newly sweeping freeman, and the approaching Exodus in the propagate-Emancipation South.
